White Hole by Alessandra Andrini

Alessandra Andrini

Born in Ravenna in 1958, lives and works in Bologna. After the Faculty of Political Science and a period of activity in the field of cinema, in 2001 she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. Her artistic research mainly focuses on the urban dimension. Her experience develops into a dynamic relationship with the urban, architectural and landscape context, with the environment, history, and collective memory. A curiosity that brings with itself a thousand eyes watching the collective. And with these xhe attempts to meet again / clash. She writes about herself:

“My work is nourished by the architecture of the city. I try to seize it and to leave that space to stimulate a system of relationships within my installation. I believe that in many of my works you can read a voltage to investigate the essence of 'image, photography, relationship with the virtual. Sometimes the intent is stated, elsewhere it is putting in place a visual system of extreme proximity to the perception of reality that I try a path that could lead to a second level of thought on image.”

The exhibition begins in 1997 in Bologna Station and she has the first international success with East International 2000, Norwich, UK, followed by the application for the PS1 International Studio Program in 2001, continuing in Italy and abroad on a double track path between private spaces and public-art installations. Professor of urban design and methodology for the design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ravenna.
